This curious fellow shown below was Kubin's first pet/confidant. They shared long sunny afternoons on the floor behind the couch in his father's musty library, Alfred describing in detail the grotesqueries of his inner world to this stuffed, eye-less seagull.
Gotta love that Kubin. Though he doesnt look especially young or handsome in that second image...

yeah. that was from the kelvingrove museum in glasgow. they had a whole room of these stuffed birds, ranging from ostriches to baby hummingbirds and none of them had those fake eyes. just the stuffing poking out of the holes in their head. gross/cool.
